about
Dimashq Al Sham
Damascus is an extraordinary city. This track seeks to
illustrate the wonder of the young Battutah entering its
walled interiors. Still in evidence , the influence of the
Greeks who shared the Grand Mosque with the Arab
scholars , the grandure of the Roman buildings and Mount
Qasioun ever present in the distance. Mazin Abu Sayf plays
Accordion & Violin throughout this track in duet with the
Alto Flute of Eliza Marshall. I play the melody on a
Baritone Guitar that Nick gave me many years ago and the
percussion is played by Imed Alibi from Tunis.
